Robinson Choir Spring 2008

Music at Robinson

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.

Serve the Lord with Gladness: come before His presence with singing.

Psalm 100:1-2

Glen Thompson, our organist and choir director, brings his expertise, love of music, and his enthusiasm to our worship services. The Casavant organ fills the sanctuary with rich classical music; the piano literally bounces when the Gospel Band is playing; and the choir of 25 members beautifully sings a wide variety of music. Many of our choir members love to sing solos, duets, or in small groups. On occasion, the children participate musically in the worship services.

Besides singing at every Worship service, the choir presents cantatas at Christmas and Easter. In December 2006, we performed our very own Christmas cantata, Elijah the Shepherd. The inspiration for the cantata and the words were written by Glynn Leyshon, a tenor in our choir. The music was composed by Graham Hitchins, also a tenor in the choir and an accomplished banjo player, and Glen Thompson, our organist and choir director. The narrators, Mark and Edith Richardson, and Helen Bell added to the very moving experience. Last Easter we sang the cantata One Sacrifice by Raney and Parker.

The choir has also organized fundraising activities such as the concert For the Love of Music, and has sung appropriate music for the themed dinners prepared by the Men of Robinson.

The Choir meets every Thursday at 7:30 pm.

Please join us if you like to sing.

The Gospel Band plays several times a year.

Please join us if you can play an instrument.

Sing to the Lord, all the world!

Worship the Lord with joy;

Come before him with happy songs!
